SHAHID PARVEZ represents the fourth generation in the lineage of Ustad Imdad Khan, the founder of the Etawah gharana of the sitar and surbahar. He plays Malkauns, one of the oldest and most popular of Hindustani ragas, which has a serious mood ranging from romantic to somber. Shahid Parvez offers a detailed rendering through a vocal-style slow composition and three medium and fast tempo compositions. He concludes with an alap and dhun in the romantic raga Bhairavi.
